Here's another app for Nokia phones which offers you voice modulation app like Talking Tom Cat but still there is no physical actions like Android Talking Tom Cat . Although it lags as comparing to Android's Talking Tom cat but you should know that most of the android -phones are fast due to the fast hardware support to them as compare to Nokia that's why these app runs fast on android.

Talking Hamster : It is a Symbian or .sis file based on QT. A very nice app. In this , a Hamster modulates your voice to a more funny voice in real time. It can even sing a preloaded Happy birthday song , It do not perform any physical action , it just speaks. It is a much improved version of Puppy talk, which i already published . So, to remove this error and make this app fast . just place your finger on phone's microphone after speaking anything. It will instantaneously repeats (in funny way) what you speak like Talking Tom Cat.

Supported Devices:  Symbian S60V5: Nokia C5-03 , Nokia C6 , Nokia X6 , Nokia X7, Nokia 5800 Xpress music , Nokia 5230 , Nokia 5233 , Nokia N97 , Nokia 5530 Xpress music , Nokia 5250 , Nokia N97 Mini ,Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro , Nokia 5235 , Nokia 5800 Navigation edition ,Sony Ericsson Satio , Sony Ericsson Vivaz , Samsung I8910 OmniaHD and other Symbian S60V5 devices.

I already published the links to download Talking Tom Cat for Nokia. It covers almost all the physical actions as performedby Talking Tom cat on android, but it lacks voice modulation in real time which we like the most in "Talking" Tom cat.

But now a app can be used to cover this voice modulation feature in real time like Talking Tom cat for Nokia and works perfectly well than i expected. although it lags as comparing to Android's Talking Tom cat but you should know that most of the android -phones are fast due to the fast hardware support to them as compare to Nokia that's why these app runs fast on android.

Puppy Talk : It is a Symbian or .sis file based on QT. A very nice app. In this , a puppy modulates your voice to a more funny voice in real time. It do not perform any physical action , it just speaks. The main problem of this app is that it keeps on listening or recording even there is very little noise . So, to remove this error and make this app fast . just place your finger on phone's microphone after speaking anything. It will instantaneously repeats (in funny way) what you speak like Talking Tom Cat.

First , install QT in your phone, if you don't have it, download it here. If you already installed QT than download the file below to install puppy talk in your phone. Please make sure that your QT is updated to latest version for faster response of this app.

It is the most awaited app by symbian users after Angry Birds. Although it is not as fast as in android but at least something is better than nothing. It is a Flash based App.
If you want a real voice modulation app like Tom cat you can download Puppy talk  or Hamster Talk which is based on QT and offers more functionality.
Tom is your pet cat, which responds to your touch with a funny voice. You can pet him, poke him, you can even feed him with a glass of milk.

Siri's Mysterious Brain Fog

Posted by Unknown | 3:50 PM

Siri's Mysterious Brain Fog
The dust-up over Siri's apparent inability to help users find abortion information has lead some to wonder why the virtual assistant clams up at the mention of the issue. Regardless of the reason, the situation's given Apple a small taste of what it's like to come up with search results that some people don't agree with.

The performance of Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone voice-activated "personal assistant" when asked for information about abortion information has created a tempest of controversy for the Cupertino, Calif. company, though the problem is likely a technological one, rather than part of some hidden political agenda.
However, the gaffe could create potential trust problems for Apple in the future.
The issue came to light when several news outlets began reporting about complaints from iPhone 4S users that requests for abortion information was drawing a blank or in some cases, references to a pro-life clinic.
Apple did not respond to our request for comment on the Siri problem, but in a widely reported statement on the issue, the company said that while Siri can find a lot, it doesn't always find what users want. The company asserted that these are not intentional omissions, and it reiterated that Siri remains a beta product.
Search engine experts interviewed by MacNewsWorld agree with Apple's assessment of the situation.

Kindness of Others

Like Blanche Dubois, Siri depends on the kindness of others to answer questions asked of it. It doesn't have its own database of information from which it can extract answers, as a Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) orBing does. It has to query other programs' databases for those answers.
Siri is a search agent, rather than a search engine, explained Jonathan Allen, director of Search Engine Watch.
"Search engines crawl the Web and try to index and rank the Web, while a search agent is programatically connected to other searchable entities," he told MacNewsWorld.
Siri can directly interface with traditional search engines like Google,Yelp and Wolfram Alpha and pull information from them for its answers to your questions, he added.
In addition, Siri also tries to determine if a question has a local spin on it. If it does, Siri will try to find a local answer for it. That can produce some befuddling results.
That could be what happened with the abortion search. Siri may be checking a local database and in some cases, finding no abortion clinics.
"The database doesn't come back with any answers almost certainly because abortion clinics don't call themselves 'abortion clinics,'"Search Engine Land Editor In Chief Danny Sullivan explained to MacNewsWorld.
The same thing would happen if you searched for a "tool store," he added. "When I do that, I don't get any answers," he elaborated, "and it's not because Siri is trying to prevent me from buying tools. It's because the tool stores aren't calling themselves 'tool stores.' They're calling themselves 'hardware stores.'"

Ethical Question

Another possible source for the problem is that Siri, which is still in beta, just couldn't parse the abortion question correctly, added Allen. Whatever caused the glitch, he continued, "it's not a moral thing."
Ironically, if the abortion query had been shipped off to Google instead of to a local database, the current controversy may not of developed. A search for "Where can I get an abortion?" on that engine produces a directory of abortion clinics high up in its search results.
While Siri may not be a search engine in the mold of Google and Bing, this latest dustup is giving Apple a taste of what the ferret set has gone through for some time. "These aren't new things," Sullivan observed. "Google has been dealing with these things for years."
"People get upset with Google because you can do a search that tells you how to pirate software, or you do a search that can tell you how to kill people or how to make bombs," he added.
However, not being a pure search engine could open Apple up to a different kind of criticism in the future. That's because there's money to be made from referring Siri users to the databases it's using to answer questions.
"The ethical question is," Sullivan said, "are you pointing to database that are the best for the user or are you pointing to databases because you're making the most money from them?"

Norton Anti-Theft Plugin: Major Letdown
After a two-second "Anti Malware" scan within Norton Security, a dialog box appeared. How boring. The phone was clean. Next up, the intriguing Norton Anti-Theft Plugin. Hopefully, this would entertain me a bit more. Somehow I got directed to an Android Market subscription page where I was given the opportunity to buy a $29.95 Norton subscription for some unknown benefit -- was this not the kind of thing I wanted protection from?
Norton Anti-Theft Plugin is available at the Android Market as a free add-on to Norton Security products or at a subscription price of US$29.95 per year.

Believe it or not, antivirus software makers are now pitching solutions for our smartphones. Do you believe the hype? Statistics floating around the sea of press releases from antivirus merchants proclaim the end of innocence for our lovable little Android. He's grown up.
The amount of malware aimed at the green-iconed devices jumped almost 37 percent since last quarter, McAfee proclaimed, noting that virtually all new mobile malware in the third quarter was being shot at Android.
Juniper Networks (Nasdaq: JNPR) reported 472 percent jump in malware since July 2011.
While looking around for some protection, I came across the intriguing Norton Anti-Theft Plugin for Android, which I decided to check out.

In Search of the Right Norton

I entered "Norton" as a search term in the Android Market on my PC and was presented with five possible apps to send to the Andoid device. They included Norton Security and Antivirus; Mobile Utilities and Task Killer; Norton Snap QR Code Reader; the Norton Anti-Theft Plugin; and Norton Online Family.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Symantec (Nasdaq: SYMC) product labeling.

A Brief History

This first, ambiguous labeling step reminded me of a time Symantec interviewed me for a job back in the 90s. My early Web design sensibilities were similar to the company's -- lots of white and yellow.
Following a lot of talk, I thought I had the gig, but the headhunter asked me if I had any end-of interview remarks. I couldn't resist launching into a diatribe on what a nightmare Symantec products were to install -- and worse, to get rid of.
Forget Windows Uninstaller in those days -- you had to run scripts to get rid of the stuff. Anyway, I didn't get the gig. My recruiter said it was because I was too expensive. I think I know the real reason.

Installing the App

It was with some trepidation that I arbitrarily chose Norton Security and Antivirus and Norton Anti-Theft Plugin. I'd pick two out of the five products and hopefully Symantec had fixed the uninstall functions over the last 10 or so years and I'd be able to junk them if I so chose down the road.
The two apps dutifully installed on my current Sprint (NYSE: S) Motorola Photon, and after clicking on the Norton Anti-Theft Plugin, I was reprimanded by the Symantec UI for choosing the wrong app -- apparently you have to choose Norton Security.

Scanning for Malware

I clicked on the "Anti Malware" tab within Norton Security and then, with great excitement, chose "Scan Now." With bated breath, I waited for the scan to complete, wondering what crippling, mean-spirited trojans and scripts the investigation would uncover, and whether my life would be forever compromised by some spotty kid with too much time on his hands.
However, after two seconds I was presented with the deflated dialog: "Scan Completed: No Malware or Spyware was found." How boring. The phone was clean.

My Anti-Theft Exercise

Next up, the intriguing Norton Anti-Theft Plugin. Hopefully, this would entertain me a bit more. After exploring a little, somehow I got directed to an Android Market subscription page where I was given the opportunity to buy a $29.95 Norton subscription for some unknown benefit -- was this not the kind of thing I wanted protection from?
I was prompted to set up a password that would allow me to send an SMS text message to lock the device if it got lost. Now this was looking like more fun. I resisted the urge to choose a password longer than the 160 characters allowed by the technology. I then specified a trusted buddy who would be able to unlock the phone from her device if I were ever to forget the password I'd set.

Feeling Bamboozled

As I fiddled around for a bit, it became clear that these two apps wanted me to upgrade to a $29.95 annual plan for more varied controls, including the ability to wipe, locate, make a loud noise called "Scream," call block and SMS block if the phone got stolen.
I felt a little bamboozled. I had installed the apps and had been give no indication whatsoever that they were anything but free, yet doing anything other than locking by SMS was going to cost me thirty bucks a year. If you factor in the life of a phone -- say two years. Is sixty bucks worth it? I'll leave you to decide.

Noted online spiller of secrets WikiLeaks has launched a new site intended to raise awareness of surveillance and privacy intrusions. Spy Files displays hotspots all over the world where privacy violations of several stripes are taking place. It also names companies that are allegedly involved. WikiLeaks claims to have a database of hundreds of documents from up to 160 intelligence contractors in the mass surveillance industry.

WikiLeaks launched a new spinoff website called "Spy Files" on Thursday that will publish documents about surveillance and privacy violations worldwide.
The site has a page displaying a map of the world indicating where various violations are occurring, and it lists companies involved in monitoring and surveillance.
At press time, there were 287 files on the page.
The launch coincides with increased concerns about surveillance triggered by recent allegations that software company Carrier IQ was providing applications to mobile device manufacturers and carriers that logged everything done on a user's smartphone.
Those concerns were further exacerbated by news Thursday that the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011, which would exonerate private companies from blame for sharing customer data with the government, is being considered in Congress.
Is WikiLeaks justified in launching this new Spy Files site? Or is it making a last-ditch attempt to get publicity and get some money into its nearly empty coffers?

What Spy Files Tells Us

The blurb on the Spy Files landing page states that mass interception of communications is a secret new industry spanning 25 countries.
WikiLeaks claims to have a database of hundreds of documents from up to 160 intelligence contractors in the mass surveillance industry.
It's working with Bugged PlanetPrivacy International and media organizations from six countries -- ARD in Germany, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in the UK, The Hindu in India, Italy'sL'Espresso, France's OWNI and The Washington Post.
WikiLeaks plans to release more documents in the future.
WikiLeaks says surveillance companies such as SS8 in the U.S., Italy's Hacking Team, and France's Vupen create Trojans that hijack individual computers and mobile phones and record their every use, movement and even what's going on around them, while companies such as the Czech Republic's Phoenexia collaborate with the military to create speech analysis tools that identify individuals by gender, age and stress levels and track them based on voiceprints.

Some Companies Involved

One of the names named is HP (NYSE: HPQ), whose brochure titled "HP Investigation Solutions" was listed.
A presentation titled "New Solutions for massive monitoring" fromThales and one titled "Deploying Media Probes in Evolving VoIP Networks" from Newport Networks are among the other documents listed on Spy Files.
"HP is a leader in providing converged communications solutions that support global law enforcement efforts to fight terrorism and other serious crimes," company spokesperson Ethan Bauley told TechNewsWorld.
"We do not design our products to be used to violate human rights, and we do not knowingly sell our products for such purposes," Bauley added.

Fear and Loathing or Business as Usual?

Perhaps concerns about our moving increasingly to a surveillance-saturated world where everyone is under watch all the time are overblown.
"It was nice of [WikiLeaks] to create a central catalog of surveillance materials and methods, but there is no larger story that was not already well known," Phil Lieberman, president ofLieberman Software, told TechNewsWorld.
"The facts of life are that governments and private parties have been able to intercept and track consumer security-level devices since the beginning," Lieberman added.
There are "very good reasons" for governments to have surveillance programs in place, but people are "now being surveilled by a much broader range of agencies and commercial companies than they have been before," Charles King, principal analyst at Pund-IT, told TechNewsWorld.
"The tendency towards excess by government agencies seems to be one of the only constants in Washington," King remarked.

Heroism or Flailing for Funds?

WikiLeaks is by no means the first setup to shed light on secret government activities;Cryptome, for instance, has been doing so since 1996.
WikiLeaks publisher Julian Assange learned his skills at Cryptome in this interview, according to Cryptome Cofounder John Young, and he warned that sites like this are under government surveillance.
Given this, is WikiLeaks' establishment of Spy File an act of heroism, or is it just a publicity stunt to gain media attention and pull in donations?
"It's a clever re-spin of the 'governments are evil' theme to try to focus the attention of the media on how governments aren't just evil with each other but are evil against their citizens," Lieberman said.
