Chrome is within striking distance of Firefox for second place in worldwide browser usage.

That's because, according to Net Applications' November browser usage measurements, Chrome is now within 4 percentage points of Firefox. With a 2 percentage-point increase in one and a 2 percentage-point decrease in the other, Google comes out on top.
Firefox dropped 0.4 percentage point to 22.1 percent of usage in November, while Chrome gained 0.7 percent to 18.2 percent. If that rate was to continue, Chrome would outpace Firefox in March 2012, but fluctuations make such predictions difficult.
Firefox once was the prime challenger to Microsoft's Internet Explorer, which for years languished in the doldrums of software development. Now it shares that role with Chrome and, to a lesser degree, Apple's Safari. Microsoft is in high gear again, though, with IE9 a credible challenger and IE10 shaping up to be a strong competitor when it's finished in 2012.
The browser market is now fiercely competitive as browser makers use the software to drive their agendas. For Microsoft, it's about the Metro user interface in Windows 8; for Google, it's browsing speed and Web applications; for Mozilla, it's a Web built on openness and standards; and for Apple, the best mobile devices.

In the mobile market, Apple's Safari dominates, while Opera Mini and the Android browser jockey for second place.

In November, IE's steady decline stopped, with Microsoft's browser holding steady at 56.2 percent of usage. Microsoft has largely written off Windows XP users by requiring Windows Vista or Windows 7 for its current IE9. The company measures its performance by Windows 7 usage. there, IE9 passed Chrome and Firefox in usage and now trails only IE8.
The vast majority of browser usage today is from personal computers--92.2 percent. But with smartphones and tablets, mobile-device usage is generally increasing. In November, it reached a record 6.7 percent, according to Net Applications.
The top mobile browser by far is Apple's Safari, but it plunged 7 percentage points to 55.0 percent of usage in November. The Android browser had bumped Opera Mini aside in October for the second-place spot, but in November, Opera Mini clawed its way back. Opera's lightweight browser, which runs on thousands of phones, surged 7 percentage points to 20.1 percent, while the Android browser dropped 2.2 percentage points to 16.4 percent.

Mobile browser usage is small but growing.

Opera also offers a full-fledged browser, Opera Mobile, for higher-end smartphone. But that remains relatively rare at 0.4 percent of mobile browser usage.

Apple's iPhone 4S has earned high marks from owners, a new study from ChangeWave Research has found.

At daybreak on October 14, shoppers gather at the Apple Store in Emeryville, Calif., to be among the first to buy the iPhone 4S. Statistically speaking, they've been might pleased with what they got.

According to the research firm, which conducted a survey of 215 iPhone 4S owners last month, 77 percent of them are "very satisfied" with Apple's handset. Another 19 percent of owners say that they are "somewhat satisfied" with the device. Just 2 percent of respondents told ChangeWave that they are "unsatisfied" with the iPhone 4S.
The 96 percent satisfaction for the iPhone 4S trumps the level for the iPhone 4, which earned accolades from 93 percent of respondents last year. In that study, 72 percent of iPhone 4 owners said that they were "very satisfied," while 21 percent claimed they were "somewhat satisfied."
The iPhone 4S is also a favorite of smartphone reviewers. When it launched in October, CNET's Kent German gave the iPhone 4S four stars out of a possible five, saying that the device is a fine option for any consumer looking for a smartphone.

"The iPhone 4S isn't the king of cell phones, but it's part of the royal family nonetheless," German wrote. "Even without 4G and a giant screen, this phone's smart(ass) voice assistant, Siri, the benefits of iOS 5, and its spectacular camera make it a top choice for anyone ready to upgrade."
Speaking of Siri, ChangeWave found that the voice assistant is the feature nearly half of iPhone 4S owners like most about the handset. The device's ease of use, 8-megapixel camera, and faster Web browsing also earned high marks.
But it wasn't all good news for Apple. The iPhone 4S' persistent battery life issue was cited by 38 percent of respondents as the feature they "dislike most" about the smartphone. Apple's resistance to 4G connectivity was an issue for 30 percent of owners, while 11 percent of respondents said that they wish the iPhone 4S screen was bigger.
Although owners also complained of excessive dropped calls, it appears the iPhone 4S is doing a much better job than its predecessor. ChangeWave found that 2.5 percent of iPhone 4S owners have been frequently dropping calls, compared to 5.2 percent of iPhone 4 owners.
Further digging into iPhone 4S drop rates reveals that it's largely an AT&T issue. In fact, ChangeWave said that just 1.3 percent of Verizon iPhone 4S customers experience frequent drops, while 4.1 percent of AT&T customers see high dropped-call rates.

The main task of this application is changing the ringtones automatically. It is not secret that one ringtone not always can be set for call, messages and alarm.
Often you want to set one long and loud ringtone for the call and short and loud - for messages. For an alarm you want to set the long one but with an increasing tempo.
The RndTones application counts this and allows you to set different ringtones lists for the calls, messages and alarms. After each of events (incoming call, incoming message, and alarm action) the new ringtone will be selected randomly from the appropriate list. The application settings are quite compact. “Change ringtones” – switches the application work (including autostart). If “yes” – the ringtones will be changed (for the selected events) and the application starts will automatically when phone starts. If “no” – the ringtones will be not changed and the application will not start with the phone. Further you can switch on or off the ringtones changing for the definite events. In the various alarm applications the alarm ringtone changing is the second function by the popularity after ability to configure the acting intervals, though not every alarm application can do it. And in separation of alarm this function is in general unique! It is small separate server application handles the ringtones changing and it is not consume a lot of system resources and do not reveal self-anyhow. The main application can be closed or minimized directly after configuring the settings. This will not affect further work anyhow. Then we have threeseparate playlists. They are:
Call ringtones, SMS ringtones, Alarm ringtones.

When you add the ringtones you can select built-in phone’s ringtones (from the Z drive) or search them in the phone’s memory.
Directly after selecting standard ringtones the list will be opened. By default all the ringtones will be selected and added into the list after you will press OK. When you navigate through the list the preview will work (if this word can be used on the ringtone). E.g. that application will start to play new selected ringtone so we can understand what we are selecting.
Select desired ringtones and press OK. The ringtones will be added into the list. There can’t be any ringtones’ duplicates. E.g. only those new ringtones will be added which weren’t in the list.
When you select the user ringtones at first the memory drive selection dialogue will be shown. The owners of modern phones (with three memory drives) would not be hurt. They will see all the available drives (the C drive, built-in flash-drive and the flash memory card).
Then the directory selection dialogue will be shown. The feature is: you can always select the root folder. The search of the ringtones will be performed in all the nested directories at this. If you don’t want to handle all the ringtones that you have, so you better should select the concrete directory that contains the ringtones.
After that the all the found ringtones list will be opened and you will be able to add them into the application’s list of the ringtones.
To the left of the ringtone’s name you can see the colored circle. When you press the joystick center it will switch its color between green and red. So you can include or remove this ringtone in the rotation process. The ringtones that is highlighted with a green will be used in the rotation process. The red ones would not.
After selecting the ringtones into the list, new options will be shown in the menu. I will describe some of them here.

“Activate” – the cascade menu. You can select “all” or “nothing”. Accordingly you can add all the ringtones into the rotation process or remove them. “Ringtone information” – the dialogue will be shown that has full ringtone file path (remember that in the list it is only the ringtone’s name). This information is not needed too often and there is no sense to show it in the main list view because it will only burden it. If someone needs to see the file information – he can see it using this menu. “Sound on/Sound off” – these are interchangeable options. They affect the selected ringtone playing while you navigate through the list. This is so called “preview”. The function can be useful but it can bother you and so you will want to switch it off.
